Master of Engineering

An accredited professional master's in civil, mechanical, electrical or software engineering, often the route to chartered or professional engineer status.

About this course

The Master of Engineering deepens a bachelor's degree in engineering with advanced technical subjects, design projects and management skills. Many programmes are accredited by professional bodies, which matters if you want to register as a professional engineer after graduating.

You will specialise in a discipline such as civil and structural, mechanical, electrical and electronic, environmental, or software engineering, and complete a major design or research project, sometimes with an industry partner.

Germany is a popular choice for its low fees and strong industry links; Australia, Canada and the USA offer longer programmes with post-study work options.

What you will study

  • Advanced engineering mathematics and modelling
  • Discipline-specific design and analysis
  • Engineering project and risk management
  • Sustainability and environmental engineering
  • Research methods and professional practice
  • Major design or research project

Entry requirements

  • Typically a bachelor's degree in engineering with around 60% or GPA 2.8+ (BE or BTech)
