Bachelor of Computer Science

A rigorous undergraduate degree in programming, algorithms and systems, with specialisations in AI, software engineering, games or cybersecurity.

About this course

Computer Science is the foundation degree for a career in technology. You will learn to program in several languages, understand how computers and networks work, and design algorithms and data structures that scale.

In later years you choose specialisations such as artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, games development or cybersecurity, and complete a team project or a year in industry. Co-op programmes in Canada and sandwich years in the UK include paid work placements.

Students who do not meet direct-entry grades can start with a diploma or foundation year and move into the second year of the degree.

What you will study

  • Programming in Python, Java and C/C++
  • Data structures, algorithms and computational theory
  • Operating systems, networks and databases
  • Software engineering and team projects
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning electives
  • Industry placement or final-year project

Entry requirements

  • Typically +2 or A Levels with around 65–75% or GPA 3.0+
  • Mathematics at +2 level (often with a minimum grade)
  • IELTS 6.0–6.5 overall or PTE 50–58
  • SAT or ACT for some US universities
  • Foundation or diploma pathway available for lower grades
These requirements are indicative. Every university sets its own grades and English scores; your counselor will confirm the current requirement for each course on your shortlist.
