Study levels explained

Most courses on this page are offered at more than one level. Here is what each level means for a student coming from Nepal.

Diploma

One to two years of practical, job-focused study after +2. Diplomas are often a pathway into the second year of a bachelor's degree and suit students with modest grades or budgets.

Bachelor

A three- or four-year undergraduate degree taken after +2 or A Levels. The most common route for Nepali students going abroad straight after school.

Postgraduate Certificate

An eight- to twelve-month specialist qualification after a bachelor's degree. Popular in Canada and the UK as a faster, cheaper alternative to a full master's.

Master

One to two years of advanced study after a bachelor's degree. Taught master's courses are the most popular postgraduate choice; some include a research project or industry placement.

PhD

Three to five years of original research leading to a doctorate. Usually requires a master's degree, a research proposal and a supervisor; scholarships and stipends are common.

Choosing a course

Start from the career you want and work backwards: which qualification employers ask for, which countries recognise it, and what entry requirements you already meet. Your counselor will shortlist courses that fit your grades, budget and plans rather than the other way round.

Often, yes. Many master's courses such as IT, business and public health accept graduates from other fields, and diploma or foundation pathways let you change direction after +2. Some courses (nursing, engineering) do require specific subjects.

Most courses ask for IELTS 6.0–6.5 or PTE 50–58; nursing, teaching and some master's courses require IELTS 7.0. Scores on this page are indicative — the exact requirement is set by each university and visa authority, and we confirm it before you apply.
